Levente Sárközi had the basic idea for the film for a very long time. The film is based on Levente's own experiences and the 2012 short film Paperman. Levente spent a very long time developing the film before it reached its current form. According to him, such a story can be captured in many ways, but one thing was important to him: the presentation of hope. The Ring, like Inside the School and Are You Listening?, is intended to be an experimental film. From the beginning, Levente intended it to be a small-scale film that would not appeal to a large audience, but to a smaller group.
